Research Areas:
Research includes satellite infrared spectroscopy of the atmosphere, atmospheric lidar, nonlinear and quantum optics, photorefractive and electro-optic polymers, theoretical and experimental studies, the formation and properties of novel alloys, the effects of space radiation on semiconductor devices in satellites, electron and atomic force microscopy, and x-ray and gamma ray astrophysics.
Facilities:
A state-of-the-art photonic and other devices can be fabricated and a microscope facility containing a scanning electron microscope with special characterization attachments and an atomic force microscope. We recently purchased a 0.8m astronomical telescope whith is housed in a dome on the roof of the Physics Building. Several femtosecond laser systems have recently been acquired.
